  • Fund application

In 2015 there was a significant expansion of the Institute's scope of activities, reflecting a 27% increase in the annual budget compared to the previous year.

The highlights of this increase in direct investment were the beginning of the Public Management Strengthening project in Campo Alegre de Lourdes (BA), with a 61% increase, and the consolidation of the operations in Serra do Salitre (MG), with a 66% increase over 2014.

To support this growth, two local agents were hired in each of these locations. More people were also hired in the São Paulo team, producing a 19% increase in the payroll.

There were also a few projects that were planned but not actually carried out, which generated unnecessary investment and mobilization, as was the case in Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA) and Paulínia (SP). The corresponding funds were relocated to 2016 due to the sponsor company's agenda.

We also highlight the investment in institutional projects made possible by the second edition of the "Development of Communities Impacted by Large Projects" event.

In 2015, we also planned and earmarked funds for a reserve fund with its own investment policies, both for use in the localities and in the Fioravante Galvani Park.

  • LEVERAGING FUNDS

Conscious and sustainable fund management – especially if related to community development projects – is a concern for the Lina Galvani Institute. We believe that funds should be leveraged by various stakeholders on different fronts, such as public authorities, individuals and other institutions. We believe that through partnerships we can make the most of our investment opportunities and community initiatives.

In 2015, we leveraged a total of 17,976 BRL, as follows:

    Serra do Salitre (MG)

When it comes to the investments in community development activities in Serra do Salitre, the partnership with the Natura Institute – Programa Comunidade de Aprendizagem – enabled the establishment of a Working Group in the locality in order to improve the quality of public school education. This partnership included raising the awareness of the players directly involved in the engagement program, including topics like staff, travel and material costs.

Total balancing entry: 12,900 BRL invested by the Natura Institute.

    Campo Alegre de Lurdes (BA)

In the community of Angico dos Dias, located in the municipality of Campo Alegre de Lourdes, there were two main activities with partner support. One was the Angico Fair, a project by the the Social Network of Angico, Peixe and surroundings. This initiative was also supported by donations from other companies (both financial and material).

Total balancing entries: 3,500 BRL support from local businesses.

Another initiative in 2015 was the joint effort to renovate the São José square, located in the center of the community. The implementation of all activities was made possible with resources, both material and human (volunteers), given by the villagers, merchants and town administration.

    Total leveraged funds: 1,576 BRL
