Projects Paulínia

  • Strengthening bonds, relationships and management processes

    Pursuant to its commitment to strengthening the participatory initiatives it supports, the LGI relied on a consultancy office to develop a management process for Betel and Alvorada Parque’s (AMBAP) community council, in a more participatory and efficient manner. During its monthly meetings, the group assessed its own work, identified priorities to be addressed and outlined action plans, in addition to establishing more solid and sustainable relationships with institutions and the community itself. As results of this initiative, we can highlight:

    • creation and submission of projects for public and private calls for tenders;
    • approval by the City Council for Children and Teenagers (CMDCA), with funds for the purchase of equipment for the Association’s headquarters and materials for the Viva Betel project (karate, jazz and guitar lessons);
    • strengthening the organization’s communication processes, with regular announcements of its achievements on its social networks;
    • partnership with the paulinia.net website for the promotion of joint events.

    For us, this is a very positive initiative, because it enables us to share our experiences and have new views on the work we do. Moreover, it is important to strengthen the Association and help us gather people who are truly committed to volunteer work in the Betel area

    Sueli Manfrim, former CEO and coordinator, AMBAP

    In addition to that, the LGI also did a survey with families assisted by the Association, aimed at outlining their profile, learning how they participate in the activities, their opinion about the work, their impressions of the neighborhood and suggestions for project improvement. In the community’s opinion, the AMBAP plays a reference role for the families. For them, the meetings are the main chance for dwellers to discuss local issues. Many parents noticed positive changes in their children after they started participating in activities promoted by Viva Betel..

    Furthermore, LGI’s Volunteering Program conducted a project at AMBAP, in which some Galvani employees were invited to join the organization’s Children’s Day celebration.

    People who see the pictures on my social networks still congratulate me for the initiative and talk about how important it is to help others in any way.

    Ricardo Barreto da Cruz, Galvani employee who participated in the volunteer initiative at AMBAP

    Learnings
    Promoting the engagement and the shared responsibility of families is fundamental for the sustainability of the initiatives conducted by base associations. Most of these associations also have volunteer management.

  • Mobilization against the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers in Betel

    Aimed at articulating a joint initiative with local stakeholders, the LGI placed its bets on a local issue: the fight against the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers. Through a partnership with the Childhood Brasil association, we launched the Programa Na Mão Certa program, together with local companies. The program intends to mobilize governments, companies and third-sector organizations to tackle this problem on Brazilian roads, and it is supported by over 1,400 companies all over the country.

    Pursuant to that, the Institute supported a campaign against the abuse and sexual exploitation of children and teenagers, at a local event, in partnership with concessionaire Rota dos Bandeirantes and other local supporters. Over 150 truck drivers did their medical exams, received massage, reflective stickers, car inspection and important information about the fight against the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers.

    Learnings
    Before articulating companies to form a network around a certain topic, it is necessary to sensitize the leaders so that they understand the importance of community relationships for the business strategy.
